Meet the Hortins
Hi and welcome to ‘Hey Hortins’, a place we have set up in the hopes of staying connected with you, wherever we (or you) may end up!
We don’t really want this to be a Hortin Monologue, so we will try to be as interactive as possible – but it takes two to tango! Yes, we want to hear about you too!
Who are we?
We are Jarod and Jess, with our son Aloysius (born July 2022). We became members of Wycliffe Bible Translators Australia in March 2024, and are currently working on building a team of prayer and financial partners for our ministry with Wycliffe Australia.
What are we are doing?
There is a great need in the Wycliffe Australia National Office for members to work in administration and finance, specifically data management and systems development. Jarod is working in this area, mostly in software development, and process management. Jess is planning to continue in full-time parenting, with a view to take on a part time role in supporting and caring for current members when the children are a bit older.
Who is Wycliffe Bible Translators Australia?
Wycliffe Bible Translators Australia want to see people from every language group being transformed by God’s word in a language that speaks to their heart. They work with organisations and people groups all around the world to work towards translating the Bible into their primary language. Click here to watch a short video about why this is so valuable.
Where do we live?
We currently live on the Wycliffe Bible Translators Australia site in Kangaroo Ground. We have been here since early 2025!
